Company Profile

Agya Appiah Bitters Limited started from a humble beginning in 1998 at Chabaa, a suburb of Odorkor, Accra in the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The founder and Chief Executive Officer of this company, Agya Kwaku Appiah. Initially made the special preparation of the choicest herbs with high medicinal values using locally brewed, “akpeteshie”, as the base ingredient to extract the medicinal components with the view to add value to the popular local gin. Within a short period of time, the product gained popularity so the company opened a number of “joints” at Kaneshie, Odorkor, Ofankor and other suburbs of Accra.

By the year 2000, the name Agya Appiah Bitters became a household name in the suburbs of Accra and customers travelled from both near and far to these “joints” just to buy the specially blended bitters.

In 2003 Agya Appiah Alternative Medicine Company was registered as sole proprietor and started using commercially refined alcohol instead of the local “akpeteshie” due to high demand for the bitters and to improve quality. Following this development a factory was opened at Ofankor in Accra to increase production to meet the ever increasing customer demand.

In 2007 a factory was built at Samsam junction, Medie, on the Accra-Nsawam Highway. The company changed its name to Agya Appiah Bitters Ltd on the 14th April 2010.

In 2011, an ultra modern factory was built at Amasaman to  improve quality and to meet the demand for our product internationally.
